Animal Collective gave the city of Baltimore a special present over Thanksgiving. As families were rushing to make their flights back home, the Baltimore band broadcast its new album, Painting With, over the loudspeakers of the BWI Airport. Now, as promised, the band has given fans a release date of February 19th for the newest project. The announcement was accompanied by the release of the leading single from the album, "Floridada."

Painting With comes four years after the band's most recent effort, Centipede Hz. According to Pitchfork, the album features only three members of the collective (Panda Bear, Avey Tare and Geologist) without the contributions of guitarist Deakin (who was also absent on 2009's Merriweather Post Pavilion).

The album also features contribution from The Velvet Underground's John Cale and multi-instrumentalist Colin Stetson.

As Pitchfork reports, "The album will be available in three different covers, each of which features a painting of one of the band members. The paintings were done by Brian DeGraw. The deluxe LP edition comes with a bonus 7" featuring two non-album tracks as well as a "zoetropic turntable slipmat" that "animates when activated in part with a strobe light," according to a press release."

The tracklist for the album is as follows:

Painting With:

01 FloriDada
02 Hocus Pocus
03 Vertical
04 Lying in the Grass
05 The Burglars
06 Natural Selection
07 Bagels In Kiev
08 On Delay
09 Spilling Guts
10 Summing The Wretch
11 Golden Gal
12 Recycling

As Domino explains in their description of the new album, "Painting With [is a] warm and personal, kaleidoscopic and high definition [album], concerned with art (Cubism, Dadaism, and the distorted way those artists viewed the world) and the human experience, and the meeting of both - creating something elemental, joyous, and unmistakably Animal Collective."
