Ferry Corsten is officially bringing back his celebrated classic trance moniker Gouryella and will be doing so in a big way. In an announcement today, Corsten said that he the side project will be making its live stage debut in 2016.

Explaining his reasoning behind this decision, Corsten spoke about the timing and how it just felt right to do something like this now.

"Throughout my career, wherever I've played in the world, one question that continues to crop up from the fans is when I am going to bring Gouryella back. I've always been incredibly touched by the love and appetite they've shown this side of my musical career," he said in a statement. "For the last 4 maybe 5 years I've been thinking about bringing Gouryella back but just haven't been able to find the right production when I was in the studio. That was until 'Anahera.' After the feedback from the fans on this latest Gouryella track I knew it was time!"

Gouryella was a project that was first started by Ferry Corsten with Tiësto back in 1999. The pair released a handful of tracks together under the moniker back before Tiësto is the radio-friendly, main stage superstar he is today. They eventually split up in 2001 and Jon Ewbank joined in 2002 to write and produce "Ligaya" in 2002. However the moniker remained dormant for years until Corsten revived earlier this year with "Anahera," which has been his biggest track in quite some time

In making this a big focal point of his career, the Dutchman wants to try and keep it as authentic as possible and capture the original magic that he felt when he was first making tracks in the golden era of trance.

"I've always loved the musical qualities that make up the Gouryella sound, and in the time when so much trance is swaying too far to EDM, I want to bring big melodies back to a scene I've spent my entire career championing," he said in a Facebook note. "Gouryella will allow me the opportunity to exercise not only my desire to bring back a sentiment to the scene that I think is lacking in some parts, but equally deliver a new live concept that will represent both the music and visuals, as well as enable me to detail further the mysterious naming which has always made up Gouryella and the titles of the singles."
