3D, aka Robert del Naja of Massive Attack, has teamed-up with the Scottish hip-hop duo, Young Fathers, to score a new satirical film about global climate change entitled La Fête est Finie which translates to The Party is Over. Out now, the short was designed to coincide with the COP21 conference in Paris, also known as the also known as the 2015 Paris Climate Conference and it premiered at Le Trianon theatre in Paris this Friday ahead of performances by Thom Yorke, Patti Smith and Flea for the Pathway to Paris concert.

The short is directed and produced by Mark Donne and Joe Morris, stars Fiona O'Shaughnessy of Utopia and Natasha O'Keefe of Peaky Blinders and also features musical production from Forest Swords, Pitchfork reports.

The 10 minute long film mocks ambivalence towards environmental issues and in a statement about the film, 3D and Donne directly call out world leaders and policymakers for failing to come to an agreement during past climate change conferences, asserting that "The consequences of failure are absolutely catastrophic, but that didn't prevent the previous twenty Conferences of Parties doing precisely that," DIY Mag reports.

The artists go on to say: "As with any party, the skill is in knowing when to leave. For decades fossil fuel extracting trans-nationals and Western governments have continued to dance and partake long after the bright lights of climate science evidence were switched on and the deafening music of denial had its plug pulled." They add that "There must be a legally binding deal on emissions reductions. The poorer nations on earth must receive the support they desperately need from the rich, so they can prepare for the damage caused by climate change and invest in clean technologies to cut greenhouse gas emissions."

The collaborators conclude the statement explaining that "this film is a cultural contribution to the global public atmosphere that now demands that these imperatives are achieved by our governments," Pitchfork reports.

3D also contributed his composition and production skills to another work of art that also made its premiere during the COP21 talks this past week. He worked with Darren Aronofsky and French visual artist JR to create an installation piece entitled "The Standing March" which drove home a similar point: the whole world is watching and waiting for policymakers to take real action on global climate change. The installation has been traveling to different locations all week, so check the project's website for updated information.

Massive Attack and Young Fathers are hitting the road for a 28-date tour early next year. Massive Attack has confirmed that the tour will be used as an opportunity to debut new material, so as the public awaits an update (will it be a new album?), fans at least have tons of new collaborative works of political protest art to hold them over.
