After a rough summer, it appears that Hillary Clinton has all but clenched the Democratic nomination. Although Bernie Sanders was a formidable foe, the party seems to have accepted Hillary as the nominee and is looking toward the general election. Clinton, in turn, has taken on a different tone in her interviews and media appearances. Instead of trying to outflank Sanders to the left or defend herself against attacks, Hillary is now able to voice her true opinions and tell the electorate which issues she cares about most. Further, Clinton is able to illustrate more of her personality. As it turns out, she is quite the pop fan and the candidate has expressed a passionate support of many up and coming female singers. In a new essay penned by Clinton for Billboard, the candidate discusses the honorees for the magazine's Women in Music and expounds on some her personal heroes.

Clinton discusses the various triumphs of several women in the music industry, including artists and executives who help inspire women around the world to pursue their creative passions.

Clinton wrote, "My hope is that women and girls around the world will hear these artists' songs, learn their stories and feel a greater sense of possibility for their own lives. Maybe they'll recognize themselves in these women. Maybe they'll be inspired to reach toward their own dreams with greater urgency. Maybe they'll stand a little straighter or speak a little louder because that's what [Lady] Gaga and Missy [Elliot] and Brittany [Howard] and Tori [Kelley] and Selena [Gomez] and Demi [Lovato] and Kelsea [Ballerina] and Lana [Del Ray]... would do."

Clinton ended the essay, "And if none of that happens, who knows -- maybe they'll just dance."
