There is a lot of hoopla and general gnashing of the teeth whenever DJ Mag unveiled their top 100 DJs poll every year at its big bash at the end of Amsterdam Dance Event. Another poll that represents a different side of the electronic music spectrum done by Resident Advisor has just been released and unsurprisingly Dixon reigns in the top spot for the third year running with Maceo Plex, Tale Of Us, Ben UFO and Jackmaster rounding out the top five.

The poll has names from all across house and techno including Joris Voorn, Adam Beyer, Four Tet, Jeff Mills, Sasha, Scuba, Jamie xx and others. Much has been said about the lack of female talent in the DJ Mag poll, but the same can also be commented about the new RA poll with only one woman in the top 20, Nina Kravitz at 20 and nine in total. This is a reader's chosen poll, not something done by experts, so it is up to the whim of a male-dominated readership and industry bias, which favors male participants.

At Hunee is the highest new entry at 26, which it was also good to see Helena Hauff getting some respect from the readers at 54. Over the next few days there will be plenty of analysis, complaining and praise for those who made it and those who didn't. As long DJs continue to rock the dance floor and put out quality records, fans will be happy and rankings will remain nothing more than a rough guideline.

Check out the top 20 below and head to Resident Advisor to see the full list of Djs.
