Reports confirm that Keyshia Cole's NBA hubby Daniel "Boobie" Gibson was arrested in New Orleans on Monday (July 29) for assault and battery that took place during a violent alteration at the Essence Festival earlier this month. Apparently, a man in the crowd was acting disrespectful towards the "Woman to Woman" songstress in a "profane way," so Boobie decided to defend his wife's honor. But according to a seedy MediaTakeOut report, Cole may have cheated on Gibson with this guy... so he wasn't just a random stranger in the crowd. Boobie ended up punching the guy in the face following a verbal disagreement, ultimately breaking his jaw.
On Monday, TMZ reported that 27-year-old Gibson turned himself in to authorities in New Orleans. The police later on released additional details, saying that the Cleveland Cavaliers b-baller is accused of punching some guy at a nightclub on July 8th, breaking his jaw. Gibson was booked on second degree battery and released on bond.
Gibson later told TMZ, "Earlier this month during the Essence Music Festival, I was involved in an incident with other individuals while I was out with my wife... It's unfortunate that some see opportunity in taking advantage of people who work hard for what they have achieved... Once all the facts of the incident come out, I expect to be fully vindicated."
Because according to Gibson, he was simply protecting his wife. While Cole was performing at the event, some man approached her in a disrespectful, profane way. An altercation soon broke out and Cole's safety was "threatened," so Boobie figured he had to take action. He believes he did nothing wrong - "I have nothing to be ashamed of or hide."
But did Gibson attack more out of anger and hostility? According to an MTO "snitch," the victim allegedly had former "relationship" with the R&B princess. The guy's identity's still unknown, but apparently his presence at the show struck a nerve with Gibson.
