Bassnectar, the moniker of electronic producer/DJ Lorin Ashton, has announced a Willy Wonka-themed golden ticket giveaway as he rolls out his first batch of delicious-looking organic Bassnectar chocolate. Initially, the producer's announcement declared that winners would receive "free weekend admission to next year's Bass Center 2016 (2 full weekend VIP passes, plus camping)," Your EDM reports, although anything hinting at camping has since been erased from all internet sources.

Basically, Bass Center 2016 is definitely happening, and Bassheads have been instructed to stay tuned for more information. Whether or not it's a camping event is up in the air and only time (and forthcoming announcements) will tell. In the past few years, Ashton has been holding a series of Bass Center one-day events at arenas across the country, so Bass Center 2016 could just refer to the continuation of that old trend, or it could imply that there was something to the initial post, and that something is major.

As Thump points out, there are few things Bassnectar's devoted fans often lovingly referred to as Bassheads could wish for more than a multi-day camping festival headlined and curated by Ashton himself. In fact, some Bassheads have even gone so far as to create a Change.org petition urging the producer/DJ to "start a three night camping festival with a two and a half long set each night with no sound restrictions." The petition, which has received over 10,000 signatures since going live over the summer, calls for a truly immersive experience that would better represent the values of the Bassnectar community and even suggests (or demands) that a percentage of profits from this dream event would go to charities of the community's choosing. The leaked announcement might indicate that Ashton is heeding the call of petitioners, or at least is also fed-up with recently imposed sound ordinance issues at recent shows at Red Rocks Amphitheater in particular.

The new Basshead-friendly chocolate line sold out pretty quickly, but it turns out there was a glitch in the system which allowed some fans to purchase more than one bar at a time. More will be on sale shortly, meaning more fans will have a chance at scoring the golden tickets. Keep an eye on the producer's official website for updated information, because there are still five golden tickets out there.
