The Paid Dues Music Festival is not happening this year and because of financial issues, ironically. Murs announced the cancellation in a statement released Wednesday (April 30).

According to Hip-Hop DX, Murs said the financial troubles had been "a long time coming."

"I regretfully announce Paid Dues will not happen this year," the statement reads. "2013 was financially challenging for my partners at Guerrilla Union and as a direct result of these unfortunate circumstances we were not able to come together to give you another successful Paid Dues Festival."

Although fans are out of luck for now, Murs plans to bring the festival back in 2015.

"I am using this time to restructure my business in order to bring you Paid Dues for 2015," he explained. "Thank you for your continued support and I look forward to celebrating Paid Dues 10 Year anniversary with you next spring. Stay tuned."

Last year's Paid Dues Festival featured Murs, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Black Hippy, Scarface, De La Soul, Juicy J and Tech N9ne.

Other past performers include Rakim, Little Brother, Blackalicious, Trinidad James, Ice Cube, Tha Dogg Pound, Jay Electronica and Dilated Peoples.

Paid Dues was launched in 2006 by Murs 3:16 and Guerrilla Union and expanded into a Paid Dues tour in 2007.

Financial troubles have hit Guerrilla Union hard. They were forced to cancel their D.C. and New Jersey Rock the Bells shows due to low ticket sales.

"It's extremely unfortunate that we can't complete the last half of the 10th Anniversary Rock the Bells tour, founder Chang Weisenberg said in a statement. "We did everything in our power to save the show. Unfortunately, the financial loss would have been devastating. I am truly sorry we could not produce the show for all the fans who did buy their ticket in support of."
