It is Christmas gifts all around from our favorite artists this year, including Lauryn Hill. The soulful singer released her cover of Nat King Cole's "A Cradle in Bethlehem," yesterday and it's absolutely beautiful.

Hill hasn't dropped much of her own music recently but her cover of Cole's single from the 1960 LP, The Magic of Christmas is definitely worth the listen!

Earlier this year, Hill did cover of a Nina Simone's "Feeling Good." The cover was a part of the album that accompanied the Netflix documentary, What Happened, Miss Simone? She has also made some live appearances including one at this summer's Afropunk and is due to perform on New Year's Eve in South Carolina. In addition to that, Hill has announced that she will be starting off her 2016 with two performances. She will be performing at the Howard Theatre in Washington D.C. on Jan. 1st and on Jan. 4th, she will perform at the Brooklyn Bowl in Brooklyn, New York.

The singer has had a rough past few years between being incarcerated in 2013 for three months for tax evasion and angering fans. After being released from prison, she skipped out or showed up late to a few shows. She also displayed some really erratic behavior when she did show up at performances. Many felt that the weight of being an artist was weighing on her, but Hill never really explained her behavior.

We are hoping this new music and upcoming shows are all signs that Hill will be coming out with some new music in 2016. It has been 17 years since Hill's last album, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, and we are growing quite desperate for something fresh from her. Even if it's just one song, we will be quite happy!

Listen to Hill's cover of "A Cradle in Bethlehem," and tell us what you think. What other songs would you like to hear Hill cover?
