What better way to bring in the new year than with your favorite rapper and the world's biggest movie? A handful of fans got to have that experience when Kid Cudi invited his fans to an 11 p.m. showing of Star Wars: the Force Awakens on Saturday.

The Cleveland rapper sent a Tweet out to fans on Saturday inviting them to a screening at the Glendale theater outside of Los Angeles offering to buy a ticket for anyone who showed up with one of his albums or piece of merchandise. Supposedly, this is the third time the "Pursuit of Happiness" artist has seen the film after apparently auditioning for a role, and he's not planning on being tired of it any time soon as he's taking the idea to multiple cities.

"Why am I doing this? It's Star Wars. Why Not! Cudi posted, adding, "and I thought it would be cool to start the year off watching a great film for the 3rd time with some great company!"

The rapper's Twitter page is filled with appreciative fans sharing their experience on the night whether it was some autographed merch, a selfie with Cudi or some video of him dancing in the theater.

Cudi could probably use the support from fans given the overwhelmingly negative response to his latest album Speedin' Bullet To Heaven. The album currently has a score of 46 out of 100 on Metacritic for it's poor attempt to make a rock-rap album in the vein of Lil Wayne.

The fact that there's a lengthy Beavis and Butthead sketch randomly and unhumorously placed in the middle of the album should give lone-time fans and new comers plenty of reason to skip over this record and stick to the old stuff. Looking at the photos off Twitter there was not one copy of Speedin' Bullet To Heaven brought to him to sign.
