After music icon David Bowie's death on Monday morning (Jan. 11), Spoon's frontman Britt Daniel has shown to be one of many artists who have been particularly affected, first by penning a warm tribute to the artist, and now by covering his celebrated track, "Never Let Me Down."

“I went to bed early last night,” he posted to the band's Facebook page. “Woke up at 3 and glanced at my phone. It’s 515 now and I’m realizing there’ll be no more sleep tonight.”

He added, “I was just saying last week isn’t it amazing how Bowie is still with us and we get another album from him? No other artist has meant as much to me personally or inspired my own songs as much. What a spirit. What an inspiration. What a shining example of the beauty that humanity can create. Bless him.”

"Never Let Me Down" appears on Bowie's 1987 album of the same name, and Daniel sings the lyrics as if he's channelling The Man Who Fell To Earth himself. Bowie, who was often emotional himself when it came to his music and lyrics, demonstrating such in his latest and final music video for "Lazarus," would undoubtedly approve of Daniel's version of his song.

David Bowie had reportedly died in the comfort of loved-ones after an 18-month-long battle with cancer, and artists everywhere, from Madonna to Lorde, have been offering their tribute on social media. It has now become apparent that Bowie's latest album Blackstar was his final goodbye to the world.

Spoon released their latest and most excellent album They Want My Soul back in 2014 via ANTI- Records, and it is currently available for purchase via iTunes.
