Red Bull Music Academy has announced the destination for where it will touch down in 2016. The month-long series of lectures, shows, talks and more will take place in Montreal, after heading to Paris for its 2015 edition. Applications will be accepted starting on Jan. 18 and will close on March 7.

RBMA 2016 will bring its month-long workshop and festival series to the Quebec city in the autumn on 2016. Exact dates have not revealed at this time. Over the month, participants will attend intimate lecture series with figures from across the world of music and collaborate on music with some of those same people and each other in some of the best studio space money can buy.

At night, RBMA will present various concerts and parties devoted to Montreal's cultural intuitions, off-the-radar spaces and special venues in an attempt to showcase its unique music identity.

The return to Canada for RBMA is a longtime coming. It has been a decade since it last set foot in Canada, taking place in Toronto in 2007. This will be the 18th Red Bull Music Academy overall.

Red Bull Music Academy has built a strong connection with Canada over the years. Since 2012, it has joined forced with MUTEK, one of Montreal's largest electronic music festivals, to present a showcase. It has also netted some pretty successful Canadian alumni through the years like Lunice, Sinjin Hawke, Ekali, Exeter, Poirier, HomeSick and Ango.

Past performers and presenters at the Academy include names like Chuck D, James Murphy, Nile Rodgers, Giorgio Moroder, Bootsy Collins, MF Doom, Richie Hawtin and others.

Prospective participants can download the application via the Academy website, which must be mailed by March 7, along with a CD of recorded material.
