Offset, of the Atlanta rap group Migos, explained why he took a plea deal after his arrest for marijuana and illegal firearm possession. He believes, however, that he could have beaten the case.

As Offset explains it, he would have gone to trial for the charges he faced in April of 2015. Offset told The Fader that although he believed he could beat the case, he was not willing to endure the long judicial process.

Speaking to The Fader, Offset said, "Either I had to say in jail and try to go to trial-which I would have beat, but it would have been a long process and I would have still been in jail right now-or I could take this probation, so I could be with my kids and my family, supporting them. I can't do nothing when I'm in jail, so I had to take the punch. Whatever I had to do to get free I was willing to do it, so I did what I felt like that was the best for me. And I'm out now. It was a kind of hard decision to make, but I took the first way out. I'm glad I made the decision because now I can get back to the money. I can get back to what I love, I can get back to my family. I can go on the road. When I was in there I couldn't do none of that. I don't belong in there."

Offset was arrested after a performance at Georgia Southern University in April of last year. He was charged with marijuana possession, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, carrying a weapon in a school safety zone, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, according to HipHopDX.
