Always the cheerful artist, Marilyn Manson is set to have a guest-starring role on Season 3 of the WGN TV show Salem. In the TV show, Manson will play Thomas Dinley, who serves as both a barber and surgeon in the Massachusetts Puritan community. This is not the first time that Manson has darkened Salem’s doorstep and has previously collaborated with the show’s composer Tyler Bates on “Cupid Carries a Gun,” which serves as the opening sequence for Salem.

Manson has scored acting gigs before during his time in the industry, playing none other than himself in Californication on Showtime. Most recently, he portrayed the head of a neo-Nazi prison gang on Sons of Anarchy in its final season.

The third season features the witches’ plot to reinvent the New World by making Salem the home base of the Devil. But instead of freeing the New World from the oppressive Puritan values, it instead leads humanity down the path of destroying itself. Salem is the brainchild of producers Brannon Braga and Adam Simon, and produced by Fox 21 Television Studios, and features actress Janet Montgomery, and actors Shane West and Iddo Goldberg.

Manson never falls short of shocking, and this past summer he and equally quirky friend Billy Corgan covered “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun by Cyndi Lauper on the final show of their joint End of Times Tour. The rendition was dramatic and more than a little sacrilegious as it featured the Antichrist Superstar singer positioned himself behind a pulpit with the album’s iconic insignia while he held a burning Bible. As if it couldn’t get any more Biblical, as SPIN described it anyway, Corgan was dressed as a nun.
