One Direction fans, you best break out the tissues for this one. After weeks of anticipation, the music video for "History" has arrived online, and it's just as nostalgic and emotional as one could imagine.

"History" plays as a retrospective on the five-year career of One Direction, starting from their heartbreaking loss on the U.K. version of The X Factor. Through black and white footage, One Direction also relives years of traveling, jokes, pranks, backstage antics and massive stadium shows.

As the song builds, One Direction also incorporate footage from their back catalogue of music videos from "You Don't Know You're Beautiful" to "Kiss You" to "Night Changes" to "Perfect" and everything else in between.

Notably, "History" doesn't ignore the full history of the band and former 1D member Zayn Malik makes a number of appearances. Though he doesn't get any solo screen time, Malik can be seen in group shots and palling around with his old friends.

In between all of this old footage, 2016 One Direction also makes an appearance in color, singing and dancing in front of a brick wall.

The video itself ends on a particularly heart wrenching note, and while One Direction have promised that their current hiatus isn't permanent, this would be a beautiful bookend to a legendary boy band's career.

"History" is the third official single from One Direction's new album Made in the A.M. It followed the release of "Drag Me Down" and "Perfect."
