Wiz Khalifa may have seven Grammy nominations under his belt in his five-year carrer but the fan favorite emcee has yet to take a golden gramophone home. But, on the back of his No. 1 hit "See You Again," 2016 just might be his lucky year. Before his performance at Winterfest 2016 Khalifa sat down in the Sundance Film Festival interview room to talk about the Grammys, Furious 7 and his new album Khalifa.

When asked how he would celebrate if he won a Grammy, Khalifa told Billboard he's not so dead set on winning awards. "I would celebrate by just making more good music. I don't really focus on awards, but it would definitely motivate me to put more stuff out there," he said.

"See You Again" won big at the Critics Choice Awards on Jan. 17, where the Furious 7 soundtrack song brought home a Best Song award, beating "Til It Happens to You" by Lady Gaga, "Writings on the Wall" by Sam Smith, and "Simple Song #3" by David Lang, "Love Me Like You Do" by Ellie Goulding and "One Kind of Love" by Brian Wilson.

But it was not an easy win for Khalifa and Puth, because despite having a top charting slot on the Hot 100 for 12-non consecutive weeks in spring and summer 2015, it lost at the Golden Globes and was snubbed by the Academy Awards.

Due to his own Oscar snub, Khalifa made his stand on the diversity issue and #OscarsSoWhite boycott clear. "I think the lack of diversity is clear. It's the responsibility of us as a people, black people, to stand up for what we believe in - whether it be that you don't pay attention or don't care, or if you do then you show passion and you stand up and use your voice," Khalifa said.
