Rostam Batmanglij, one of the founding members of the popular indie band Vampire Weekend with college friend Ezra Koenig, has announced that he is no longer in the band. He isn't totally quitting the group, though, which he explained more in detail in a Twitter post, which, like the songs he's helped write over the years, caters to the millennial fans that he has. You'll see what we mean.

Earlier this month, Batamanglij gave us all a glimpse into what 2016 held for him musically by releasing a solo track entitled "EOS." You can check out our previous coverage of this story right here. A new solo career wasn't the only surprise he had for us this year, though. According to the multi-instrumentalist and producer's Twitter announcement, he's leaving Vampire Weekend, but isn't completely quitting the band.

As the band's main producer over the years, Batmanglij is a huge influence on Vampire Weekend's sound, and he's not about to end that relationship, according to UPROXX. Lead singer Ezra Koenig won't have to change up his songwriting techniques much because Batmanglij is still going to be involved. He isn't leaving fans hanging regarding their upcoming album because he's still going to produce it.

His solo work and production are his main focuses right now, with Vampire Weekend becoming more of a collaborative project he won't commit most of his time to any more.

Considering one of his latest writing and producing credits was on Carly Rae Jepsen's 2015 record, EMOTION, his decision seems like a smart move, career wise. This album made our top 10 best albums of 2015 list, by the way!
