The 58th Annual Grammy Awards were full of excitement for Andra Day. The ceremony marked her first career GRAMMY nomination and she commemorated by performing with her “new friend” Ellie Goulding. The two took the stage to perform Day’s “Rise Up,” which is up for Best R&B Performance, and Goulding’s hit, “Love Me Like You Do.”

Day kicked off the mashup for Music’s Biggest Night, singing a heartfelt live rendition of the track, which is featured on her Cheers to the Fall album nominated for Best R&B Album. She introduced Goulding mid-song and they sang "Love Me Like You Do," from the 50 Shades of Grey soundtrack, in part, together.

Since bursting on the music scene, Day has earned kudos from various industry tastemakers, including Katie Presley, music reviewer for NPR, who compared the San Diego native to the likes of Eartha Kitt and Billie Holiday.

“She's got Eartha Kitt's unflappable confidence, Amy Winehouse's effortless grasp of classic jazz, Billie Holliday's access to raw emotion and Adele's range and pop sensibility.”

Day was previously featured on Rolling Stone’s 10 Artists You Need to Know back in 2015.

"Love Me Like You Do" spent three weeks on the Billboard chart and peaked at No. 7. Goulding was nominated for Pop Solo Performance and Song for Visual for "Medusa."
