Common has found a new home. Today (June 4), it was announced that the Chicago rapper has signed to Def Jam Records and will be releasing a new album this summer.

Common's 10th studio album Nobody's Smiling will be released on July 22 on No I.D.'s Atrium/Def Jam Recordings, according to a press release on Def Jam's official website.

In addition to signing with his imprint, Common reunited with No I.D. to work on the album Nobody's Smiling, which features his executive production.

"Common and I have a long history of making great music together. His rich legacy and robust talent are perfect additions to the Def Jam family. It's particularly significant that he's coming under our roof for his 10th album as a matured artist and cultural ambassador," No I.D. said in a statement. "It's a tremendous boost for the spirit of Def Jam as well as the world of hip-hop."

Nobody's Smiling is thus far being led by the single "Kingdom," which dropped late last month. Featuring a soul-filled, gospel-inspired sample, heavy beats and Common's always thoughtful verses, "Kingdom" is the sort of rap music that really says something.

Nobody's Smiling is the 10th studio album by rapper Common, whose last LP The Dreamer/The Believer was released in December 2011via Warner Bros.
