Fresh off of releasing The Laughing Introvert, Stalley decided to kickoff the new year with a mixtape that's already received positive reviews from fans and critics, Saving Yusuf. In a recent interview with XXL magazine, the MMG artist broke down the meaning behind his new project, plans of collaborating with various fashion brands, and more.

His latest body of work dropped on Jan. 25, consisting of 15 original tracks and a few familiar faces making guest appearances. The 33-year-old Ohio native collaborated with Big K.R.I.T., Chuck Inglish, Goldie, STS, Ray Cash, and more. Stalley sought out production assistance from the likes of Black Diamond, Rashad, J Bryce, The Block Beattaz, FKI, and others.

When asked about the significance of the mixtape title, Stalley revealed its origins derived from an Islamic prophet found in the Quran named Yusuf (in the Bible he's referred to as Joseph). He hopes the project will encourage people will take the time to study Yusuf's story and truly understand his journey. Stalley connected with his ability to overcome various obstacles that stood in his way and how he saved himself.

"The title is inspired by the prophet Yusuf," Stalley told XXL. "But in short, Yusuf dealt with a lot of demons and a lot of evil, but at the end of the day he came out on top and that's what I feel like I've dealt with in the past and even in the last couple of years dealing with a lot."

The "Swangin" rapper was looking to give his fans a taste of the ups and downs he's been facing throughout the last few years. Stalley admits he wants people to stop sleeping on him and recognize how consistent he's been with his music. Although still proudly repping MMG, Stalley is looking to push his Blue Collar Gang label (BCG) to new heights, starting with this mixtape.

Stalley has big plans for the BCG crew and brand, detailing new music from his artists releasing in the near future. Black Diamond and The Block Beattaz are under BCG, as well as, King Vadar, who plans on dropping his "Money Phone" single very soon. Stalley revealed his biggest goal for the year is to help those around him that have supported his hustle from the beginning of his career by shining a spotlight on the BCG brand and movement.

New music isn't the only thing developing with the brand. BCG's merchandise collection will also be expanding. Their fashion will literally keep fans decked out from head to toe.

"We got the Blue Collar Gang hats," Stalley said. "Those will be on the way and available online, but we've been selling them at the shows. I got a collaboration with Stance socks on the way. I got a New Era collaboration hat with the Cleveland Indians coming out very soon, so I'm excited. A lot of cool things on the way. The next thing we gonna work on is the sneaker...[laughs]."
