Straight Outta Compton may have gotten snubbed at the Oscars, but the MTV Movie Awards are looking to make that up. On Tuesday (March 8), MTV announced the nominees for its annual best-of film award show, and the N.W.A. biopic fared well, earning three nods, including Movie of the Year.

In addition to the biggest award of the evening, Straight Outta Compton is nominated for two other major MTV Movie Awards: True Story and Breakthrough Performance for O'Shea Jackson Jr., who portrayed his father Ice Cube in the movie.

Straight Outta Compton isn't the only music-centric flick to get nominated at the MTV Movie Awards. Pitch Perfect 2, which stars Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson as members of a college a cappella group, is also nominated for four awards.

Music documentaries also fared well this year at the MTV Movie Awards. Amy and What Happened, Miss Simone? are up for Best Documentary as well as The Hunting Ground, which features the survivor anthem "Til It Happens to You" by Lady Gaga.
