Lana Del Rey's new album Ultraviolence is just a little over three days away, but the "West Coast" singer is still rolling out new songs in anticipation of the June 17 release date. Earlier this week, Del Rey released the sizzling single "Brooklyn Baby," and in a new interview she revealed the song was actually supposed to have a guest spot... the late, great Lou Reed.

Unfortunately for both Del Rey and Reed, the former The Velvet Underground crooner passed away on the very day the two were set to hit the recording studio.

"I took the red eye, touched down at 7 a.m., and two minutes later he died," Del Rey said in a macabre interview with The Guardian.

Reed's death wasn't the only shake-up in the Ultraviolence recording process. Last year, Del Rey's personal laptop was stolen with all its contents, including personal records and over 200 songs, some of which were intended for her third studio album (most notably, "Black Beauty" was scrapped from the album, pushed back to bonus track status).

Despite the album's unfortunate circumstances, Del Rey was notably unfazed during her The Guardian interview, casually expressing her desire to die an early death, a la Kurt Cobain or Amy Winehouse, both of whom passed away at age 27 (Del Rey will turn 28 on June 21).

"I wish I was dead already," she said bluntly, expressing that she thought an early death was glamorous and that "I don't want to have to keep doing this. But I am."

Despite her death wish, Del Rey's mellow, atmospheric new album Ultraviolence will be released next Tuesday.
