American Idol's farewell season is finally getting its contestants to fully step outside their comfort zone. For the top four episode on Thursday night (March 24), there are two distinctive themes: songs from the discography of Sia and classic American rock songs. The limitations have led to some of the most interesting picks as the competition starts to wind down, narrowing the field from five to the final four.

TV Line leaked the song choices for MacKenzie Bourg, Trent Harmon, Dalton Rapattoni, La'Porsha Renae and Sonika Vaid, and the picks are fairly surprising. With guest mentors Sia and legendary rock icon Steve Van Zandt, the singers were forced to pick from those singers' respective genre.

For the Sia songbook, there were expected picks, with Trent and La'Porsha nabbing the biggest hits ("Chandelier" and "Elastic Heart," respectively) and the remaining three contestants fell in line with some of Sia's other big tracks, including "Titanium," "Bird Set Free."

But, American rock song choices are were the picks get a little interesting. Sonika, who proved she could dominate a hard rock song with "Bring Me to Life" is going to dial things back a touch with Patti Smith's "Because the Night." MacKenzie is also expected to get the girls going with the Cheap Trick classic "I Want You to Want Me."

But then, there's the odd choice of giving La'Porsha Bon Jovi's "Wanted Dead or Alive." Though she showed off her saucy side with her take on the Beatles' "Come Together," this pick seems like less of a homerun on paper.

Sia Songbook Choices:

MacKenzie Bourg, "Titanium"
Trent Harmon, "Chandelier"
Dalton Rapattoni, "Bird Set Free"
La'Porsha Renae, "Elastic Heart"
Sonika Vaid, "Love Me Back to Life"

American Rock Song Choices:

MacKenzie Bourg, "I Want You to Want Me" (Cheap Trick)
Trent Harmon, "Sharp Dressed Man" (ZZ Top)
Dalton Rapattoni, "God Only Knows" (The Beach Boys)
La'Porsha Renae, "Wanted Dead or Alive" (Bon Jovi)
Sonika Vaid, "Because the Night" (Patti Smith)

American Idol's top five will be narrowed down to four tonight (March 24) on FOX at 8 p.m.
