A$AP Ferg has been sharing tracks left and right from his upcoming album Always Strive & Prosper and the latest his collaboration with Missy Elliot "Strive." The dance-tipped single is quite different from what fans have heard from Ferg thus far from his Always Strive & Prosper singles, but shows his versatility.
The track has late 2000's David-Guetta feel to it, though production comes from DJ Mustard and Stelios Phili. The uplifting, feel-good anthem encourages the listener to "get off your ass and create your life."
As Missy Elliot and Ferg say in the hook, "Cause you're missin' opportunities / I know you're rich in opportunities / And you're missin' opportunities / I know you're rich in opportunities."
Is the song a tad cheesy? Maybe, but the combination of the infectious piano-house instrumental with Ferg and Elliot singing the catchy hook together creates an irresistible jam that beckons the listener to the dance floor. If you are feeling down, then you need "Strive" in your life.
