Apart from the impressive live performances and the winners of the Billboard Music Awards 2016, fans also looked forward to see the gorgeous outfits of the biggest stars of the music industry in the red carpet from Britney Spears to Ariana Grande.

First to arrive on the red carpet is Spears who came wearing a sheer ensemble wearing underwear without any pants and paired it with a Schutz boots. Her look is similar to what she wore at the MTV Video Music Awards performance in 2001.

Ciara was wearing a Philipp Plein silver gown, Meghan Trainor arrived in a sparkly dress with shoulder pads, Grande wore a cut-out Versace blue gown and Rihanna wore a simple brown blazer dress from Thierry Mugler. Kesha was wearing a classic Nudie suit which she calls as a "vintage piece of art" which pays homage to Prince, Bob Dylan and Paul Mercurio from Strictly Ballroom, The Sydney Morning Herald reported.

Electro-pop singer Z LaLa arrived in an attention-grabbing cage-like black gown and a towering swirly wig while Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz was wearing a torn Iron Maiden T-shirt paired with distressed blue jean jacket and ripped white jeans, Mail Online wrote. Aerosmith front man Steven Tyler came wearing a striped suit and Seal wore yellow boots under his black pants.

The Weeknd, whose real name is Abęl Tesfaye went home with eight awards which is the highest number of awards a male artist has received in Billboard history. Adele followed the rapper with five awards.

Performances included Madonna and Stevie Wonder's tribute to Prince as well as an electrifying number from Britney Spears who wore a sexy ruby outfit. Other performances came from DNCE, who sang “Cake by the Ocean,” Fifth Harmony, who performed “Work From Home," Justin Bieber, who belted out “Company”/”Sorry,” Pink's jaw-dropping number “Just Like Fire,” Ariana Grande, who sang “Dangerous Woman”/”Into You,” Rihanna with a top-notch vocal performance of “Love on the Brain,” Kesha with a powerful rendition of “It Ain't Me Babe,” and Celine Dion ft. Lindsey Stirling for an emotional revival of “The Show Must Go On,” Billboard reported.
