Katy Perry, a top user of Twitter with 89 million followers, was a victim of a hacker who sent abusive tweets and even reportedly leaked an unreleased song.

Fans were surprised about Perry's uncharacteristic posts when she tweeted “miss u baby” to Taylor Swift, whom she is not having a good relationship with. To recall, the two popstars, who were former friends, feuded when Perry allegedly hired Swift's backup dancers and Swift accused her of trying to "sabotage an entire arena tour," Us Magazine reported.

There are also tweets about homophobia, racism and even a link to a track on SoundCloud, which is said to be an unreleased song of Perry titled "Witness." The file, Witness 1.3, was already removed from SoundCloud, Guardian reported.

A screenshot of the "California Gurls" singer's email account was also posted on Twitter showing a copyright claim from Universal Music to take down the song from SoundCloud.

The hacker signed off by tweeting “haha follow @sw4ylol #hackersgonnahack," who appears to be responsible of the hack. The alleged hacker's account is not yet suspended and is owned by someone based on Romania.

The tweets were removed from Perry’s account page as soon as she recovered it, but the pop star did not comment on the incident.

Twitter aims to be a safe and open community as stated on its security advice pages. It says that they are working to "improve our responses to security threats, but user accounts and computers can sometimes become compromised by phishing, hacks, or viruses."

It also recommended that users should change their passwords, not just on Twitter but also on other trusted apps linked to the account, to make sure no one else could access it, BBC News noted.
