Coldplay’s Chris Martin sang Rihanna’s praises in a new interview, and went as far as to call her “the Frank Sinatra of our generation.”

The two have worked together in the past and did a duet of “Princess Of China,” which was a Coldplay hit back in 2011.

“She is the Frank Sinatra of our generation,” Martin said in an interview with The Guardian. “She can turn anything into gold with that voice. Here’s the thing: if you speak to a good singing teacher about great opera singers, they will talk about consistency of tone. Or there’s a book by Alfred Tomatis about why some people like certain people’s voices and other people hate them, like Bob Dylan or me or whoever, some people say, ‘Oh, I hate that voice,’ so there’s a thing about people’s frequency responses - what they are pleased by.”

Martin further said on the quality of her voice, “Rihanna has this thick tone, so it’s very hard to annoy anybody. It’s like a beautifully squeezed tube of toothpaste. When you think of Rihanna’s voice you of this whole, rich thing, solid like a tree trunk, and Drake is pretty similar. But Rihanna’s voice is just delicious for your ear. Sinatra had the same thing; anything he sang sounded pleasing to most people.”

The singer began the UK portion of her Anti World Tour on June 24 by performing a large scale show at Wembley Stadium in London. Rihanna will then continue on to stadiums in Coventry, Glasgow and Manchester. There are even whispers that the singer will join Coldplay onstage during their set at Glastonbury according to NME.

When Coldplay's headlining slot at Glastonbury was first announced, it was reported that their performance would be on the Pyramid Stage. It is also the band's only festival date over the summer for their new album A Head Full of Dreams was released this past December and also performed at the Super Bowl 50 halftime show along with Beyonce and Bruno Mars.
