Lil Wayne is facing a battery charge after an altercation between the rapper and a nightclub bouncer allegedly took place after the 2016 BET Awards.

Young Money rapper Lil Wayne has found himself back in the news after a nightclub bouncer filed charges alleging the "Lollipop" rapper punched him in the face at a BET Awards after party.

TMZ reported the scuffle between the two men allegedly happened when the unidentified bouncer informed the New Orleans rapper and his entourage that they were not able to get into the Hyde nightclub on Sunset Blvd. That's when Lil Wayne, real name Dwayne Carter Jr., reportedly hit the Hyde bouncer in the face, causing minor injuries that were treated at a local hospital.

Carter was nominated in the "Best Group" category at the 2016 BET Awards for his collaboration with rapper 2 Chainz, on the ColleGrove joint project, as reported by EW. Also nominated in the same category was fellow Young Money artist Drake, who took home the win for his collaborative work with Future.

Whether or not Drake was a part of the entourage with Carter on the night of the alleged assault has not been determined, but a rep from his camp is claiming that whole ordeal was just one big misunderstanding and Carter has denied ever laying a hand on the club bouncer, whom the rep said worked the VIP section that night, according to TMZ.

Though his reps are admitting that there was a brief altercation that night, it didn't involve Lil Wayne assaulting the club bouncer but the bouncer himself who they say "mistakenly grabbed Wayne by the arm ... not realizing who he was," as reported by TMZ.
