After 12 years of marriage, Mary J. Blige is ending her relationship with Martin "Kendu" Isaacs, who is also her manager. The "Be Without You" singer officially filed her divorce documents on Tuesday.

According to People, the singer cited irreconcilable differences as the main reason for the divorce. She also asked the court to terminate Isaac's ability to receive spousal support.

Although neither Blige nor Isaacs has yet released a personal statement to address the matter, a spokesperson for the singer confirmed that she filed for divorce.

"Ms. Blige is saddened to say it is true that he has filed for divorce, saying sometimes things don't work how we hoped they would...but there is a divine plan and a reason for everything," the representative said in a statement to Us Magazine.

The spokesperson also noted that despite this incident, Blige will still continue working on the songs for her upcoming album, which is expected to be released before the year ends. The representative also said that the singer's world tour will not be affected by the divorce.

It is not yet clear what happened between Blige and Isaacs. Just a few months ago, Isaacs even shared a photo of him and his wife looking happy together on his Instagram account.

But, according to TMZ, the separation may have something to do with their professional and personal relationships with one another. The celebrity news site noted that since Isaacs is also Blige's manager, the couple's work-related issues can sometimes affect how they relate to each other as husband and wife.

The singer is also strict when it comes to her husband's social circles. As revealed by Blige, she has banned her husband from having female friends. Likewise, she also doesn't have male friends.
