Byron "Big Naz" Williams, the former bodyguard of Eminem, claims that Suge Knight once hired hitmen to kill the rapper. According to Williams, this reportedly happened during the 2001 Source Awards.

Williams made the revelation during an interview with Murder Master Music Show. He also discussed the other details of the incident in his book Shady Bizzness: Life as Marshall Mathers' Bodyguard in an Industry of Paper Gangsters, according to Perez Hilton.

As noted by Williams, he accompanied Eminem to the hip-hop and R&B awards show but did not sit next to him due to the event's seating arrangement. Then, during the event, he saw a group of people standing around Eminem and arguing with him. He noted that they were wearing the colors of the Bloods, a gang that Knight was reportedly affiliated with.

Williams said that the group threatened him and Eminem, noting they represented Knight's label, Death Row Records.

"He's beefing with all these guys in these red shirts," he told Murder Master Music Show. "So I come from where I was at, I had to come back around, I noticed EM's face changing, he's turning like tomato red. There's a sea of red guys around him."

"I had to bust through the middle man and snatch him up," he added. "Like, 'Hey man, what the hell's going on up here?' This is exactly what they said, 'Death Row, mother*cker, Death Row."

Fearing for the worst, Williams called for backup by asking for Dr. Dre and his bodyguards' help. Despite the incident, Eminem and his crew did not leave the event and the rapper even managed to complete his performance that night. During the entire event, Williams, Dr. Dre and the other bodyguards were on high alert just in case someone tried to attack Eminem.

According to Uproxx, it's hard to confirm Williams' allegations especially since Knight cannot respond to these claims. The Death Row Records co-founder is still in prison due to the murder and attempted murder charges made against him after hit-and-run incident last year.
