Last month, Music Times reported that Yaya DaCosta had been cast as Whitney Houston in an upcoming biopic about the late singer and her daughter Bobbi Kristina isn't too happy.

Angela Bassett, the film's director, recently opened up about her decision not to cast Bobbi Kristina.

"No, I did not think about that. I did not think about casting her," Bassett admitted during an interview with Entertainment Weekly. "And probably for a number of reasons, you know. One being that she's not an actress. I know she's acted here and there. I know she's been on their family's reality show, but she's not an actress and acting is a craft."

Bassett said that portraying a character is a complex task, implying Bobbi Kristina wasn't well equipped.

"It's an attempt to illuminate the complexities of human behavior and life. And this is a very fast-paced schedule; we have just 21 days to tell this story. It's more than just saying lines and turning the light on. You have to drive the story -- there's a technical aspect."

Bobbi Kristina didn't take Bassett's comments lightly and took to Twitter to fire back.

In her tweets, she referred to Bassett as a "b***h" and a "bassketcase" [SP]. She has since deleted the tweets.

As previously reported, the film is slated to air in 2015 and Bassett will be making her directorial debut.

"I have such regard for both Whitney's and Bobby's amazing talents and accomplishments, and I feel a responsibility in the telling of their story," Bassett said in a statement. "Their humanity and bond fascinates us all. I'm beyond excited to have this opportunity to go behind the camera and into their world."

Bassett and Houston starred in the 1995 film Waiting To Exhale together.
