Rebecca Black, the artist best known for her 2011 hit "Friday," has released a new single called "The Great Divide." According to the singer, her new song is one of the most significant tracks that she has written because it reflects her experiences over the past years.

"The Great Divide" is black's latest single ever since the release of "Saturday" in 2013, which served as the follow-up to "Friday." Unlike the other tracks she released in the past, her newest single is not a novelty song as it carries a more serious theme. According to her, the song is about distancing herself from the people who had a negative effect on her.

"It's definitely one of the most meaningful things I've written for myself," she told Entertainment Weekly. "As I've grown up, I've realized there are certain people I've let into my life that aren't healthy for me. This song is about letting those people go and feeling power in knowing that's the best decision for you."

Originally, "The Great Divide" was released as a pop ballad. But after Black heard the remix made by EDM artist Crash Cove, she decided to release that version too. Both the original and remix versions of the song can be downloaded through iTunes and streamed on Spotify.

"The Great Divide" will be included in an EP that Black is aiming to release later this year. Aside from the new track, Black has also written and recorded over 30 songs over the past few years. It is not yet clear which of these songs will be included in the upcoming EP.
