After Mariah Carey's sister Alison was arrested for prostitution earlier this week, the singer's older brother publicly spoke about the artist and blamed her for abandoning her family. According to Morgan Carey, Mariah only cares about herself.
As reported by the New York Daily News, Alison was arrested on Wednesday in Saugerties, New York, after she allegedly solicited sex through an online ad. She was nabbed after an undercover cop posing as a customer responded to the ad she posted.
Following the arrest, Morgan talked about his relationship with Mariah and Alison during an interview with Inside Edition. As noted by the news site, when they were younger, both Alison and Mariah wanted to become professional singers. Although Mariah was able to achieve her dream, Alison got entangled in various problems including drug abuse as she got older.
Despite Alison's troubled life, Morgan said that Mariah still refuses to provide the necessary assistance to her sister. He noted that he's upset at Mariah because she still refused to reach out to Alison even after she publicly asked for her famous sister's help through a video she released in March, which was obtained by the Daily Mail.
"Mariah doesn't care about anyone other than herself," Morgan told Inside Edition.
"I hope Mariah could find it in her heart to forgive Alison [for] her transgressions and step up, create a trust, let's make sure Alison's needs are met," Morgan continued.
A publicist for the pop star noted that over the years, Mariah has supported Alison and her family by giving them "hundreds of thousands of dollars." Morgan questioned this form of aid because of his 55-year-old sister's current state.
"I will always be puzzled why Alison, a heroin addict, has always been given large sums of money from Mariah her whole life," he said. "You can't put large sums of cash into the hands of a drug addict."
