Pharrell has released his new gospel flavored track “Crave” from the Hidden Figures soundtrack. It is just one of eight original songs that he contributed to the soundtrack, which he also co-produced. He had previously released Runnin” and “Surrender from the compilation.

The film itself stars Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer and singer Janelle Monae. It will serve as her film debut. Hidden Figures portrays tree mathematicians whose calculations pushed NASA forward in the Space Race against Russia. The film will be in theatres on Christmas Day and the soundtrack is slated to be released in early December (Dec. 9). Okayplayer reports that it also includes an appearance from Mary J. Blige.

"Crave" is truly what good gospel is about, full of scatting and crooning over funky guitar riffs and thumping bass, along with blaring trumpets.

Pharrell’s last solo LP, G I R L, was released in 2014, but he has been serving the music industry as a producer and a coach on The Voice. His latest collaboration was with Cat Power on “Go Up,” and he also joined A$AP Rocky on his song “Hear Me,” as well as executive producing Little Big Town’s Wanderlust album.

Pharrell has reportedly been working with Justin Timberlake for his next LP, and Variety reported that they’ve already completed “a good solid six songs.”

“If you’re able to really screenshot your own vulnerability, and frame it properly, and color-correct it, then it becomes something that every human can relate to,” he said of his collaboration with Timberlake. “And I think Justin is in the place where he’s mastering that right now.”
