Joy Division and New Order guitarist Bernard Sumner will be releasing an autobiography on September 25, Pitchfork reports. The book is titled Chapter and Verse (New Order, Joy Division, And Me) and is being published by Bantam Press. As the title indicates, the book will likely be a look back on Sumner's time with influential post-punk band Joy Division and the equally influential synth-pop band New Order, formed after the tragic suicide of Joy Division vocalist Ian Curtis in 1980. Sumner has also been a member of the bands Electronic, with Johnny Marr of the Smiths, and Bad Lieutenant, with his New Order bandmate Phil Cunningham.

Chapter and Verse will be Bernard Sumner's first book, but he isn't the first member of Joy Division or New Order to be published. Bassist Peter Hook has written two books: 2009's How Not To Run A Club, about his time as part-owner of the legendary Hacienda club in Manchester, and 2013's Unknown Pleasures: Inside Joy Division, about his time as a member of Joy Division.

In addition to this new autobiography, New Order is also working on a new album, with Stereogum pointing out that the band has debuted some new songs this year, including "Singularity and "Plastic." The as-of-yet untitled album, which is slated for release in 2015, will be New Order's first since Peter Hook left the band in 2007. Since his departure, Hook has been touring with his band Peter Hook & The Light, which performs Joy Division and New Order albums in their entirety.
