Rising star, Maggie Rogers, has released new single "On + Off" from her forthcoming EP, Now That The Light Is Fading. The Brooklyn-based indie-pop single delves into a relationship where she feels more at home with the person than outside of the relationship.
The song was premiered yesterday by Mistajam as BBC Radio One's Hottest Record In The World. After the song premiere, she explained the story behind the song and where it came from in her life.
"There's a sort of sexual cliché in the song," she says. "There's a lyric that says 'You turn me on,' but if you listen to the rest of the lyrics, that is actually about emotional stability. Being on and off and finding a person that grounds you. Because I think that's one of the things that's most important to me in relationships."
"On + Off" is one of the more upbeat songs Rogers has released thus far. She wrote and co-produced the song with Nick Das and Doug Schadt. It is the third song off of her upcoming EP Now That The Light Is Fading that will be released on Feb. 17 via Capitol Records. Her previous two viral hits "Alaska" and "Dog Years" will also be on the record. Purchase "On + Off" here.
Maggie Rogers has been tipped by many publications as an artist to watch in 2017 (count us one of them) with an EP on the way and a nearly sold out tour coming up this spring. Find her North American tour dates below and pick up tickets on her website.
