At long last, there is new music from Arcade Fire. The group has released their first song since 2013's Reflector titled "I Give You Power" featuring Mavis Staples and it comes at just the right time.

The song combines elements of industrial electronic with the dance-rock fans have heard in the past. This is all wrapped up with Mavis Staples commanding gospel voice over the sturdy drums on the instrumental with an assist from Win Butler.

"I give You Power" was released yesterday, on the eve of Donald Trump's inauguration as a TIDAL exclusive. Fans can stream it everywhere they want today.

It is not a coincidence that they released this empowering song with Trump coming into power. Speaking to Zane Lowe on Beats 1, Win Butler noted that this was his way of protesting what he saw as injustice in society.

"It's the eve of the inauguration and I think it's easy to get sucked into sitting on the couch and checking your news feed and watching things on CNN, and we're just musicians and the only thing we have to offer is our music." He continued, "I talked to Mavis last night and she said, 'Now more than ever we just need to hold onto each other.' For us it's a feeling of solidarity-to not feel powerless and focus on what we can do as individuals and try to do our part."

In a tweet yesterday, the band said, "It's never been more important that we stick together & take care of each other" and then added that all proceeds from the song will go to the ACLU.

He remains tight-lipped about the group's upcoming album, that is rumored to be coming in the spring, only commenting, "the future is unwritten."
