Jane's Addiction has never been a band to work too quickly. The gap between albums two and three was 13 years, and another eight years between three and four. And although that fourth album was released in 2011 ("The Great Escape Artist"), vocalist Perry Farrell reports that the band will be playing a new single when it hits the road as part of the Uproar Festival.

"Being that we have a tour, I'm really happy that we have a good song that will serve as our calling card when we hit various cities," Farrell said. "Jane's is kind of known for long songs; being this is a one-song single, I thought it'd be interesting to try and write a Beatles-esque short song that would be fast and furious and it would just be fun, dig it and move on, short attention span."

If the frontman thinks that Jane's Addiction needed a calling card, he probably forgot about the band's early hits such as "Jane Says," "Been Caught Stealing" and "Stop!," but we're sure the group's fans won't mind (our favorite is still "Mountain Song"). You can listen to "Another Soulmate" at RollingStone.com

As with "Caught Stealing," the subject matter isn't terribly dense on new single "Another Soulmate." Farrell reports that it's about a friend of his wife who always ends up with the wrong guy. The vocalist also has big ambitions for the video, and he's aiming to go viral.

"I want to make something that would go viral," he said.  "You can have a sense of humor and a creative young man or woman and put together a video. I said, 'Think about the dating services, how wacky they are. Let's do a parody of [an] online dating service: quick, simple, inexpensive, hilarious and compelling.'"

Uproar is a big rock bill, featuring Jane's alongside Alice in Chains, Coheed and Cambria, Circa Survive and Walking Papers. It's isn't the biggest lineup the group's ever toured with however; Farrell is also the founder and organizer of the annual Lollapalooza music festival.
