After Alex (Chyler Leigh) proposed to her girlfriend Maggie (Floriana Lima) in last season’s finale of “Supergirl,” fans have become worried about their relationship’s future. This is because Lima has been downgraded from a series regular to a recurring one. The news certainly spells doom in Alex and Maggie’s relationship.

Lima and EP Andrew Kreisberg had both earlier assured fans of the fan favorite “Supergirl” couple that the relationship will get a proper closure in Maggie’s remaining episodes. Kreisberg even further assured fans that Maggie will not be killed off, which he is aware that many people are afraid off, ScreenCrush reported.

“Maggie will continue to exist in the world and we hope that if the opportunity presents itself for her, that she’ll come back from time to time,” Kreisberg said. Meanwhile, Lima hinted on Twitter that there is still something to look forward to for the couple. She used the hashtags #NotOverYet and #Sanvers (their couple name) in her post.

It appears that even if Maggie will not be given as much screen time in the new “Supergirl” season, it does not mean that a breakup with Alex will be forthcoming. Whether she accepts the proposal remains to be seen however.

In other “Supergirl” Season 3 news, Odette Annable has been signed on to play the part of Reign, who is said to be the perfect foil for Supergirl. The character is part of the infamous World Killers of the DC comics, The Hollywood Reporter reported. They are the bloodthirsty and highly dangerous biological weapons that were partly created by Zor-El (Robert Grant), who is Kara’s (Melissa Benoist) father. Reign is one of only five of them that survived the destruction ordered by the Kryptonian Science Council.

Alex and Maggie’s possible engagement and Kara’s fight against this season’s big bad are just two things to look forward to in “Supergirl” Season 3. It is expected to premiere this fall on The CW.
