As I Lay Dying frontman, Tim Lambesis, broke his silence a year after he was released from jail on murder-for-hire charges. The singer issued an apology to his family, friends, fans, and peers from work.

Lambesis, whose real name is Timothy Peter Lambesis, expressed his remorse for his past misconduct in a lengthy post shared on social media. He admitted that no words cannot express how sorry he is for the hurt he caused to his family, his band, and the fans who looked up to him. The singer added that he looks at the person he has become with so much disdain. Lambesis also took full responsibility for the crime and admitted that there is no defense for what he did.

Lambesis first apologized to his former wife and three children, whom he adopted from Ethiopia, for his "appalling actions." In his post, the singer admitted that there is not a single day that goes by that he does not wish that he could undo the damage he caused. He also asked people to give his family privacy and to shield them from any negativity or anger that should be directed toward him.

"To my family, I apologize for the trauma you faced and may still feel. This is an ongoing sentence many of you serve because of me," Lambesis wrote on the band's official Facebook page.

The singer then asked forgiveness from his As I Lay Dying bandmates, friends, crew members, attorneys, managers, agents, and other people who suffered the aftermath of his arrest. Lambesis apologized for the betrayal and hardships he caused them. He added that he hoped to mend his relationship with his peers as time goes on.

Lambesis went on and apologized to the people who looked up to him as an artist. He admitted that he showed his good side to the public while he was "feeding an ugly growing monster behind closed doors." The singer/bodybuilder also clarified that his apology is no way a promotion to his return to music, although he admitted that music has helped him through the darkest times in his life.

To close his apology, the 37-year-old musician explained why he had remained quiet in the past year following his release from prison in 2016. Lambesis said that he took the time for healing. He added that no amount of prison time can right his wrongs and that he does not deserve trust or a second chance.

In May 2013, Lambesis was accused of hiring a hitman to murder his estranged wife Meggan Murphy Lambesis. The hitman turned out to be an undercover agent. In 2014, he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to six years in prison. He was released on probation less than three years into his sentence on Dec. 17, 2016.The As I Lay Dying singer is now clear of his parole and probation requirements.
