The Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival will launch its 31st season with "Russian Memories," a free outdoor concert featuring music of Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich, Borodin, Prokofiev and Rachmaninoff, on July 30.

This long-running chamber music festival, held in the beautiful seaside setting of Long Island's East End, features established artists as well as rising stars, and will present 12 concerts through August 24.

Always a destination for new American music, BCMF will present the world premiere of "A Palace Upon the Ruins," by The Lord of the Rings composer Howard Shore, on August 10. The work is scored for mezzo-soprano, flute, cello, piano, harp and percussion. Rising young mezzo Jennifer Johnson Cano is the soloist on this program, held at the historic Bridgehampton Presbyterian Church. This work was co-commissioned by BCMF and La Jolla Music Society.
