Once again, Khalid has proven why he is one of the most important voices in pop music of his generation.

The young singer performed a gorgeous rendition of Tracy Chapman's 1988 hit "Fast Car" for BBC Radio 1. The performance was aired on Thursday, March 8. Khalid also performed his hit single "Location" from his 2017 album American Teen.

Live Lounge is a show that invites artists from different genres to sing their own songs and, more importantly, to cover another artist's work. Prior to Khalid's appearance on the show, Mabel took the stage to perform her own rendition of "Fix You" by Coldplay.

Other guests on the show in the past few months include J Hus, Craig David, Sigrid, James Arthur, Rag'N'Bone, Sam Smith, Alma, Kesha, and Demi Lovato.

Hit Maker

Khalid's 2018 has been going pretty great so far. The young singer attended the 60th Annual Grammy Awards in January, where he was nominated in five categories including Best New Artist.

In February, he released his collaboration with Fifth Harmony's Normani, a song titled "Love Lies," which has entered streaming songs chart. According to MTV, the track has gone so viral that it has reached over 100,000 shazams (an app used to identify a song they hear and discover new music) since its release. The song now has over 50 million streams on Spotify.

Khalid's hit single, "Young Dumb and Broke" has gone triple platinum this month, selling 3 million copies worldwide. His song "Location" also received a multiplatinum certification from the RIAA.

The certification was awarded in time for the 1st year anniversary of American Teen.

Fans are likely getting more new music from the 20-year-old artist. He recently was spotted hanging out with rapper 6lack inside a recording studio which makes fans believe that a collaboration is in the works.

On an Instagram story posted by 6lack, the rapper stated: "support your friends. A mutual mood."

6lack previously said that he is working on the follow-up to the 2016 album Free 6lack. Perhaps Khalid is recording a track that will be included in the rapper's upcoming project.

The young hitmaker will be going on a North American tour this coming summer to perform in major cities including Portland, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Phoenix, Denver, and Dallas.

He will also perform at the EDC Las Vegas 2018 happening on May 18 to 20.
