Today is Selena Gomez's 22nd birthday, and if there's anyone who gets unusually excited about being 22 years old, it's her friend Taylor Swift. On her Instagram account, Swift posted a photo of herself holding up her "S"-shaped necklace, which you can see below.
Though this photo might seem pretty inconsequential on any other day of the year, it was posted with the caption, "Usually this S represents "Swift" but today I'm wearing it because SELENA IS 22!!!!"
Birthday wishes are always nice, but this birthday shout-out is particularly sweet considering that Swift and Gomez had reportedly been feuding, and like most other awful things in this world, this feud can be blamed on Justin Bieber. Despite being Gomez's on-again/off-again boyfriend, Taylor Swift allegedly hates Justin Bieber (like any good American), which predictably caused a rift between Swift and Gomez. According to a story from Hollywoodlife.com written back in March, the two got into an awful fight over Gomez's relationship with Bieber, which left their friendship "very icy."
Back in May, however, the two put aside their feud for a night when Gomez posted an Instagram video of her and Swift dancing together at the Met Gala, with the caption, "sometimes you wanna just be you with someone who knows all your secrets," though that could be seen as blackmail as much as reconciliation. Just a month later, however, Swift was reportedly lamenting Gomez's decision to date Bieber once again, which couldn't have gone over well with Gomez.
So for now, Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez are on good terms, but Justin Bieber could always come back and ruin things again.
