Jay Z got quite a few headlines last year when he entered into the sports management industry. He started with Robinson Canó and gathered more superstar clients such as Victor Cruz, CC Sabathia and, oh yeah, Kevin Durant. We have no way of gauging how well Roc Nation Sports is operating aside from the fact that none of its clients have complained thus far. It shouldn't be surprising: Jay and his Roc Nation teams have handled entrepreneurial projects across a number of fields, typically with success.

That said, we're still awfully surprised to hear that Lil Wayne will also be entering into the sports management industry, and his first customer is reported to be Portuguese soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo.

The rapper and Young Money label boss has supposedly teamed up with PolarisSports, an agency that is affiliated with CAA and Gestifute, the latter of which is operated by Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes. Wayne will reportedly be tasked with marketing and branding and handling endorsement deals for Ronaldo, whom many consider to be at least the world's second-best soccer player.

Our skepticism stems from the fact that international soccer is undergoing a huge moment in the United States following one of the most popular World Cups ever among Americans. Ronaldo and all of his Premier League pals probably want the most legitimate of managers to handle what could be an onslaught of big contracts. Is that really Lil Wayne? Sure, he handles Young Money's mail but Tyga and Ronaldo are two different animals.

Another reason to be wary: This report comes from TMZ, who were already way off the mark earlier this week when they claimed Coolio had signed a record deal with a porn site.

HipHopDX reports that Ronaldo Instagrammed himself yesterday with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe while flashing the "Young Money" sign, but that of course has since been removed.
