Coldplay will be releasing a new song on Aug. 26, not as a part of a new album for the band but for the "Hunger Games: Catching Fire" soundtrack. The official "The Hunger Games" Facebook page made the announcement this morning (Aug. 9).

According to "The Hunger Games," Coldplay's contribution to the "Hunger Games: Catching Fire" soundtrack will be called "Atlas," and is the "Paradise" band's first original song for a motion picture.

Coldplay are no strangers to appearing on movie soundtracks, even if they've never written a song specifically for a film. The Grammy-award winning soundtrack for the 2004 film "Garden State" featured "Don't Panic." Coldplay have also made appearances on film soundtracks for "The Amazing Spider-Man," "The Last Kiss" and "You Me and Dupree," as well as for TV shows "One Tree Hill," "Grey's Anatomy" and "The O.C.," according to iMDB.

The soundtrack for the first "Hunger Games" movie also featured big-name artists performing new material. "The Hunger Games: Songs From District 12 And Beyond" included songs from Taylor Swift, Arcade Fire, The Decemberists and Pistol Annies. The Taylor Swift and Civil Wars contribution for the soundtrack "Safe & Sound" won a Grammy for Best Song Written for Visual Media in February.

"Atlas" will be the first new music for Coldplay since their 2011 album "Mylo Xyloto," which featured the hit song "Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall."

No other artists have been confirmed for the soundtrack to "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire," but it has been confirmed that the film will hit theatres nationwide on Nov. 22.
