Good Charlotte is coming home to lead a tribute to the slain journalists of the Capital Gazette with a concert in Maryland.

The band will be headlining the concert dubbed "Annapolis Rising: A Benefit Concert," which is still currently in the works.

The concert will take place on July 28, exactly a month after a shooter opened fire at the office of the local newspaper, killing five people and injuring two others. The shooter, a 38-year-old man who harbored a grudge against the publication, was arrested and charged with five counts of first-degree murders.

Good Charlotte's Tribute To Capital Gazette

The "Dance Floor Anthem" singer's participation at the upcoming concert does not come as a surprise. Founding members Joel and Benji Madden formed the band back when they were attending high school in Maryland.

In an interview with the Capital Gazette, Joel revealed how he reacted to the shooting and explained why he and the band decided to get involved.

" I don't know what we can bring to it, other than we just want to be involved in supporting the city," said the vocalist. "Obviously, we're all shocked. We're all kind of speechless. These are moments when you really don't know what to do to help."

As of this writing, no other musical acts aside from Good Charlotte has been announced. Fans, however, can expect more artists to sign up and be included in the lineup in the next couple of weeks.

Tickets to the tribute concert will be sold, but no price has been quoted as of yet.

"Basically it's going to come together fast and furious," said city spokeswoman Susan O'Brien. "[E]veryone is working on a little bit of this and that."

She also hopes that Beyoncé, who will be performing at the FedEx Field outside of Baltimore as part of the "On The Run II" tour on the same day, could swing by and sing a couple of songs.

New Dates For 'Generation RX' Tour

Good Charlotte is also heading on a major North American tour to promote their new album, Generation RX, which will be released in September. The major trek announced earlier this month will kick off in Mexico City on Oct. 12 and is expected to wrap up in Las Vegas, Nevada by Nov. 24.

VIP tickets for the Generation RX tour are now on sale via the band's official website. Meanwhile, the general sale of tickets will begin by Friday, July 13.
