Usually, a movie's box-office success relies on its script, acting, and cinematography. However, one can't argue that a powerful soundtrack elevates a film further, from cueing impending conflict or the bliss of romance, an iconic scene is often accompanied by an equally iconic tune.

Here are five of the best selling movie soundtracks to get your movie music collection started.

One of the biggest movie franchises of all time, it's no wonder Harry Potter OSTs rank among the best movie soundtracks.

With music composed and conducted by the great John Williams, the soundtrack for "The Sorcerer's Stone" definitely helped cement the first installment of the "Harry Potter" franchise as a classic for all ages.

The 19-track album includes the classic HP "Hedwig's Theme," with its soft strings and chiming bells, which would permeate the eight films as well as the spinoff "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them." Some music from this album was also used for characters, events, and places in the sequels and other media.

American violinist Caroline Campbell's debut CD in 2011 contains some of the familiar tunes you might have a heart but quite can't place. One is the classic Elgar composition "Salut D'Amour," which was first featured in the soundtrack for the 80s Christopher Lambert film "Greystroke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes."

The album contains tunes that are recommended for easy listening like "Cavatina," which was originally composed by Stanley Myers for the 1970 film "The Walking Stick" and was used as the theme for the 1978 epic "The Deer Hunter."

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

For Potterheads everywhere, the third film "The Prisoner of Azkaban" probably contains one of the franchise's greatest plot holes. For sharp-eared fans, however, this film is notable for its last use of the Harry Potter theme, or Hedwig's Theme, in its original form before it was rearranged into a darker, more ominous form.

It was also John Williams' last work for Harry Potter, leaving it with a variety of nominations from the Oscars and the Grammys. The album contains the tracks for the iconic Sirius Black chase as well as the portable time machine "Time-Turner."

The soundtrack for the 2016 British spy film offers tracks that cover a wide range of emotions, perfectly encapsulating the suspense, melancholy, love, and betrayal Katya (Rebecca Ferguson) and Sasha (Sam Reid) experiences during the Cold War.

Fans credit the soundtrack in making the movie a lot more moving, with a reviewer writing, "It reminds me of something the remarkable John Barry would write," adding that he can not praise it any more than that.

The movie was co-written and directed by Hollywood legend John Carpenter also has a soundtrack he co-scored. The 1891 sci-fi action story follows a near-future 1997 where a federal prisoner is given 24 hours to rescue the US President.The Carpenter co-scored soundtrack has more than a few tracks to look out for, from the Western-inspired "Main Title" theme to the retro-futuristic "The Bank Robbery" theme. Listening to the soundtrack makes you want to watch the movie.
