Singer Madison Beer is slowly inching her way up in the R&B world. The pop star is rising to fame after being discovered in 2012. Beer just recently released her new single, "Stained Glass."

Early beginnings

At the young age of 12, Beer had been posting her covers of songs on YouTube. She had done a Bruno Mars mash-up and even covered "Arms" and "Jar of Hearts" of Christina Perri. Her full, mature voice caught the attention of viewers, raking in more than a million hits. Her break came through in the form of no other than Justin Beiber. Beiber chanced upon the young girl with her cover of Etta James, "At Last," and tweeted to share her video. He went on to share two more of her YouTube videos in his social media accounts.

Start of her professional career

Beiber got the 13-year-old Beer to sign a contract with his label, Island Records, which is owned by Universal Music Group. Being a young teen, she was put on the Radio Disney bubblegum-pop track. Her voice was more appropriate with the range of Lauryn Hill and Etta James. She aspired to deliver such soulful renditions, but her studio would hear none of it - yet. Beer was told she could do that stuff "when you are older."

Beer wanted to push through with her natural sound, but this did not sit well with Island. Armed with only a few singles, she was let go by the studio when she was 16. Being vulnerable at a young age, she thought of herself as a failure. She said that it hurt and "discouraged me in a lot of ways."

The singer-songwriter who was bent on pursuing her career decided to be an independent artist. She teamed up with First Access, an entertainment company to launch her debut EP, "As She Pleases," which contained seven tracks. With other singles, her songs hit up more than a billion streams in Spotify.

Her new home

Beer's authenticity is significant for her, which she reflected on the new music she did last year. Epic Records had taken her in and planned to release her full-length debut album this year. "Life Support" will be the home of her previously created songs such as "Dear Society," "Selfish," and the recently released, "Stained Glass." She said that with her new album, she made a promise to herself it will be the time to honestly and truthfully express what she feels. She went on to say, "I could finally tell my story," the way she wanted to tell it. She further revealed about putting into light the harmful medications for young adults, which she was prescribed to take. "Life Support" has been finished and is ready to be launched in a few months.

One with NYC health workers

Being a New Yorker now quarantined in her home in Long Island, Beer hosted her Billboard Live At-Home concert last March 23. It was her chance to help raise funds for Direct Relief that provides doctors and nurses with medical resources due to the COVID-19 crisis. The singer shared her never-released single "Stained Glass" towards the end of the live stream show.

The airwaves will hear more from the soulful, powerful voice of Madison Beer.
