West was reported to be unhappy with the magazine after he was not included in Forbes' billionaires' list because he did not produce any evidence to support his claims. Today, he is still unhappy because he claims that the list fails to represent his actual value. In the Forbes Billionaires list, he has a net worth of $1.3 billion, but Kanye West said otherwise.
"It's $3.3 billion since no one at Forbes knows how to count," Kanye said on NME.
In a new article from Forbes, writer Zack O'Malley Greenberg claims that West personally texted him and accused Forbes of "toying" with him. He adds that Kanye is as "boastful as his political idol, President Donald Trump."
"For years, Forbes had an informal 'Trump rule'-take whatever the future president insisted he was worth, divide by 3, and start honing from there. Like mentor, like mentee," he wrote in his Forbes article. He also welcomed West in the billionaire's club. West is now the second billionaire from the hip hop industry after Jay-Z, according to NME.
