Lady Antebellum is the country music trio made up of Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley, and Dave Haywood. Their lineup remains unchanged since they were formed in Nashville, back in 2006.

The band is behind famous hits "Need You Now," "Bartender," and "I Run to You." With this string of hit songs, Lady Antebellum has repeatedly proven that they are among the best acts up until today.

Country Royalties Forming Lady Antebellum

Kelley was in Nashville in 2005. He invited Haywood to join him in creating songs. He also asked Scott, whom he recognized from MySpace.

Meanwhile, Hillary Scott is the daughter of country artist Linda Davis. Linda is best known for the 1993 hit "Does He Love You" with Reba McEntire.

Charles Kelley is the younger brother of pop and country artist Josh Kelley.

The band explained in a BBC Radio 2 Drivetime show that the name "Lady Antebellum" came from a photoshoot session in Antebellum-era houses. It refers to the period in American history before the Civil War.

Inching Towards Fame and A String of Chart-toppers

Shortly after performing in local venues around Nashville, the trio signed under Capitol Records Nashville. Lady Antebellum soon sang on the Jim Brickman song "Never Alone." It peaked at No. 14 on the adult contemporary charts.

The group debuted as a band with the September 2007 single "Love Don't Live Here." The single led their eponymous debut album released in April 2008. Their carrier single reached No. 3 on the Hot Country Songs charts. It was followed by their next single release, "Lookin' for a Good Time."

Kelley and Haywood also wrote songs for other artists in the Capitol Nashville label, including Luke Bryan's "Do I."

By 2009, Lady Antebellum was on their way to their second album. They released the successful title track "Need You Now." It debuted at No. 50 and peaked at the top spot. It also topped the Hot Adult Contemporary Chart a few weeks later. Their follow-up singles "American Honey" and "Our Kind of Love" peaked in the charts as well.

In January 2012, Lady Antebellum released its second album, "Need You Now." It debuted immediately at the top of the Billboard 200.

Mainstream Success and Label Change

The band, now a popular country act, released a series of critically and commercially successful albums under Capitol Nashville. Antebellum issued "Own the Night" in 2011, "On This Winter's Night" in 2012, "Golden" in 2013, "747" in 2014, and "Heart Break" in 2017.

In August 2018, the band terminated its contract with its recording label and signed with the Universal Music Group's country label, Big Machine Records. Later in the year, the band announced their headlining residence performances at the Pearl Concert Theater of the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.
